Kairos Prison Ministry UKWhat is Kairos?
Bringing the light of Christ into the darkness of Prison We are an ecumenical, lay run prison ministry whose mission is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition into becoming productive citizens.
The Kairos Prison Ministry is introduced by a three day course conducted within a prison. Any resident expressing a serious interest can apply to be considered for a place on the course.
Kairos welcomes prisoners of all denominations, all faiths and of none, on a equal footing. We work closely with the Chaplaincy and enter a prison at the invitation of its chaplain(s).
Christian lay volunteers from many denominations, together with pastors, ministers and priests prepare together extensively for each three day course.
Kairos continues with Monthly Reunions and/or the Journey programme - a weekly follow up of further study, encouragement and support. Two day Retreats may also be offered to every Kairos graduate in a prison where it runs.
